Samuel Muthinja
Chairman of the Board
Samuel Muthinja serves as Chairman of the Board at One Drop Global, where he plays an active role not only in governance but also in the organization’s day-to-day operations. He is deeply involved in field activities, regularly visiting project sites during borehole drilling and conducting long-term follow-up to ensure the sustainability and impact of water initiatives over time.
A Registered Nurse (RN) with over 17 years of experience, Samuel has worked across multiple intensive care units in three U.S. states. He currently practices in both the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, providing specialized care to patients recovering from surgery and those facing critical cardiac conditions. His medical background brings a vital perspective to One Drop Global’s mission, particularly in understanding the direct link between clean water access and improved health outcomes.
Samuel has been part of the organization for approximately a decade, joining after hearing a talk by co-founder Joel Trumbo that deeply resonated with him. Having witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by communities without access to clean water in Africa, he is driven by a strong sense of responsibility to contribute to meaningful, lasting change.
He is especially passionate about the impact that clean water has on women and girls, who often bear the burden of traveling long distances to collect water. Providing safe, accessible water not only alleviates this burden but also helps prevent waterborne diseases—an outcome closely aligned with his calling as a healthcare professional.
Outside of his professional and humanitarian work, Samuel enjoys staying active through weightlifting and running, spending quality time with his family, and unwinding on Saturday afternoons watching MMA.
