Timothy Muttoo

Engineer. Co-founder of One Drop Global and H2O4all

Tim Muttoo’s work is grounded in a simple but powerful idea: that good engineering should ultimately serve people.

As a Professional Engineer, Tim has spent the past two decades applying his technical expertise to one of the most pressing challenges facing communities around the world — access to clean, safe water. But for Tim, the work has never been just about infrastructure. It has always been about people, dignity, and long-term impact.

A Different Kind of Engineering

While many engineering paths lead to conventional industries, Tim’s journey took a different direction. Early on, he recognized that the same skills used to design complex systems could be applied to solve real-world challenges in underserved communities.

He began working on water projects in East Africa, where he saw firsthand how unreliable or unsafe water sources affected every part of daily life — from health outcomes to education to economic stability.

This shaped his approach: not just to build systems, but to build the right systems — ones that could be maintained, sustained, and owned by the communities they served.

Building for Long-Term Impact

Over the years, Tim has helped design and implement water solutions across multiple communities, with a focus on sustainability and local partnership.

His work has included:

  • Developing water systems for hospitals, schools, and rural communities

  • Supporting filtration and distribution initiatives

  • Working alongside local teams to ensure long-term functionality and ownership

Rather than short-term fixes, Tim’s focus has consistently been on solutions that last — systems that continue to serve communities long after installation.

Leadership and Philosophy

What sets Tim apart is not just technical expertise, but the way he approaches the work.

He brings a quiet, steady leadership style — one that prioritizes listening, collaboration, and respect for the communities he serves. His work is guided by the belief that meaningful solutions are built with people, not simply delivered to them.

At its core, his approach is both practical and deeply human.

Looking Ahead

Today, Tim continues to help shape the direction of One Drop Global, contributing both strategic insight and technical leadership.

As the organization looks to the future, his focus remains the same: to build systems that are thoughtful, sustainable, and rooted in real human need — and to continue bridging the gap between engineering and impact.
